The Barbar Campaign part 6Unfortunately for Bellator, his fathers searches did not find him. The barbars had moved very quickly, far more quickly than any group of 200 soldiers could march. By the time Pugnator had set out, the barbars were quite far north. Runners had informed the barbar leader of Pugnators search but the he knew that the general would never make it far enough. He would have to go back to camp to let his soldiers rest. Bellator woke up to the face of his barbar captor. Weve heard news that your evil father has been butchering more of our kind, the barbar leader said to Bellator rather trite. My father is notThe Barbar Campaign part 6

The Barbar Campaign part 5Within a half hour, Pugnator was on the march with his group of 200 foot soldiers, 150 wolves and 50 praetorians, while two other groups marched in slightly different directions. All five other groups were headed by relatively senior level centurions. Pugnator himself was headed almost directly north, while the other groups were headed in various northerly directions, varying both to the east and to the west. There were many barbar villages in the area and the locations of these villages were known to the Artans, so Pugnator had ordered that each group continually sack the villages until they find Bellator. Pugnator himself kept his manThe Barbar Campaign part 5

The Barbar Campaign part 4Near the Artan camp, five wolves were on patrol to ensure that no barbars were near. Wolves are often used for this purpose as they have even better hearing than lupisians and have slightly better tracking abilities. Also, wolves and lupisians are able to communicate with each other very effectively. Most animals cannot communicate with any aeteran and even wolves are only able to communicate with lupisians. They do not actually speak, but rather bark and make other wolf like sounds, These wolves were wearing full plate armor. Their armor was segmented covering their torsos. There was a helmet of sorts strapped to the top of each wolfThe Barbar Campaign part 4

The Barbar Campaign part 3Yes, Father! Sorry father. I will retire immediately. At that, Bellator held his head up high again and walked out of the tent with dignity as he had been taught to do. While his father was sometimes hard on him, Bellator knew that it was simply part of growing up in the military. It had been explained to him many times that the benefit to a harder upbringing was that he would be a magnificent warrior one day. He would be a general like his father. Of course, all this was not enough to make him always obey his father. While he had no problem with displaying dignity after being rebuked, Bellator still had resolved not to go to bed.The Barbar Campaign part 3
